Links and Online Resources
Pruned, fresh and updated here's the best of the best links. If you find anything good that you think ought to be added then mail me.
Web Reference etc.
W3C - The World Wide Web Consortium Recently refurbished but still deadly dull looking home pages of the standards body behind the web. Go here for more technical info than you thought possible. The full run down on all the emerging web technologies. Download the complete HTML 4 specs here.
HotWired: Webmonkey With it's hot new look Webmonkey has put on a recent spurt of growth - lots of articles and reference on all sorts of things, from HTML and java tutorials and cheatsheets, to database design and trend spotting. I wish they'd stop recycling their articles though.
Builder.com. CNet's definitive site contains info and news on everything. Not nearly as enjoyable or well designed as Webmonkey, but a deal more comprehensive.
A List Apart Weekly magazine for web developers. Humorous, well written comment and advice from Jeffrey Zeldman and Brian M. Platz. These people are 100% W3C standards compliant - so the site's quite a technical achivement too.
Webreference.com this is like having a book called Big Book of Hard Maths by your bedside. It's educational and improving but it just ain't too much fun.
HTML
W3C full HTML specs The driest ever. But where else are you going to find definitive information.
HTML Goodies Quite a big site with lots of info and tricks, sections on CSS and javaScript. Especially good looking tutorials. Strange habit of calling tags flags and a bit
HTML Directory A phenomenal number of links to sites covering not just HTML but all aspects of web authoring.
HTML Center A big commercial site with lots of changing content, tutorials, features etc.
Barebones Guide to HTML An ancient web classic that's been on-line as long as anything else.
Dreamweaver
UltraCulture.com The strange works of one Steve Steel UltraCulture made me laugh - a man with a good attidute and some, but not much, UltraDev advice. The site seems to be resting while he writes a book, but check it anyway, when it's functioning it's worth it.
PowerClimb A shockingly ugly site with a full UltraDev shopping cart solution ready for you to customise. Will it work! Hell, you tell me.
Dreamweaver:Fever A new favourite for me. Written by a bloke called Dru it's got Ultra Dev hints as well as interesting extensions for plain ole' vanilla Dreamweaver. Plus some tutorials. Go and have a look.
Massimo's Corner of the Web A great, ultra functional site with lots of interesting extensions for Dreamweaver. Far too many to mention here but there's a very good collection of redirects based on screen res, OS, colour depth etc. Ultra Dev and tips and tricks as well. Massimo's the technical editor on the very excellent The Complete Reference: Dreamweaver Ultra Dev 4
Dreamweaver Depot The prolific Andrew Woolrige's collection of extensions links and advice seems to be in a state of flux at the moment. However he was a one of the first to start publishing DW extensions and, if you're still using Dreamweaver 2 it's probably worth a look. Otherwise it's all becoming terminally techie. But if that lights your fire...
Pretty Lady is a Dreamweaver/Fireworks customisation site which has to be seen to be believed. Horrible. A crime. One of the worst pages ever. Check it out and let it be a warning to us all.
Dreamweaver Ultra Dev Cookbook Only just up and running. See if it's worth a look.
Macromedia Dreamweaver Tech Notes direct from what Macromedia things they'll admit will go wrong.

Usability
Web Pages That Suck. Learn from others humiliation. Vincent Flanders aims to show you how to do good design by looking at bad. I say just laugh.
useit Jakob Nielsen's shrine to usability.
Usable Web Huge, regularly updated set of links on every aspect of User Interface design.
HTMLHelp A very good reference site that, unlike those mentioned above, is concerned with the practicalities of making usable multiplatfom web sites. Even includes there own validator.
Browsers & Compatibility
evolt.org You need this site. Every browser ever. Testing nightmare
The CSS Mastergrid - Webreference.com's comprehesive table of the various levels of support for CSS1 in all the mainstream graphical browsers.
BrowserWatch Home Page. BrowserWatch bares the same relationship to Builder.com as builder.com has to Webmonkey but it's lack of design stops you from doing anything but finding out what you want to know and then getting out.
The Web Standards Project. Join today!!!! WaSP's aim is to hassle and nag, name and shame until developers can follow one set of specs that will work across the board. Get over there now.
HTMLHelp Validator The HTMLHelp site again from the Web Design Group with their HTML 4 page validator. Set it to look over your pages and then feel shame.
Position is Everything
Obsessive documentation of browser flaws, float bugs etc.
Scripts & Backend
Matt's Script Archive Garish site chock full o' various scripts, javaScripts, VB, perl.
